How do I access my research labs labshare?

Research Labs in the Psychology department often use a Lab Share in order to share files among users in the lab.  All access to the lab share is restricted to faculty and students who are in that lab.

If you need to get access to a labshare, you need to request access to that lab.  You can request access here.

If you already have access to a lab share, you can access the files in two ways:

  1. Double click on the 'everest' icon on your desktop.  You may be required to enter your username and password, be sure to include 'PSYC\' in your username like this: PSYC\username
  2. Click on start->run, and enter \\everest.psyc.vt.edu.  You may be required to enter your username and password, be sure to include 'PSYC\' in your username like this: PSYC\username.
  3. Some computers have trouble connecting to everest, so there is a helper script you can use on those computers.  Look for the 'connect_to_everest' icon on the desktop, or you can right click the 'network' icon (also on the desktop) and click 'connect_to_everest'.

Access Everest from a MAC:

  1. From the finder, choose Go->Connect To Server.  Enter: smb://everest.psyc.vt.edu for the server address, Be sure to include 'PSYC\' in your username like this: PSYC\username.

Access to the everest is restricted to ethernet connected computers (no wireless) in Williams Hall and the PSC/CSC/RHEC.  Personal computers are not supported.
