Cognition, Emotion, and Self-Regulation Lab (CEaSR Lab)

Cognition, Emotion, and Self-Regulation (CEaSR) Lab

Mission:

The CEaSR lab is dedicated to the study of mental, emotional, and psychophysiological factors in the development of psychopathology. We are particularly interested in the nature, etiology, and treatment of disruptive, aggressive, and associated behavior problems in children, adolescents, and adults.

Current Projects:

We are currently investigating relationships between interpersonal, cognitive, emotional, and psychophysiological (autonomic) risk factors and subtypes of antisocial personality and psychopathy, as well as associated behavioral problems (e.g., substance abuse, coercive sexual behavior) in a large sample of young adults.

We also collaborate on research with other faculty in the department, and with faculty at other institutions, including Dr. Thomas Ollendick and Dr. Susan White at Virginia Tech, and Dr. Janet Kistner at Florida State University. Recent and ongoing collaborative projects include: (1) the role of executive function deficits in relationships between internalizing and externalizing behaviors and functional subtypes of aggression (reactive versus proactive) in children, (2) anxiety and aggression in children with Autism Spectrum Disorders, and (3) the association between attentional and self-perceptual biases and externalizing behavior problems in youth.

Lab Team:

The CEaSR lab team is comprised of Dr. Bradley White, Amber Turner, Kate Williams, Alex Melkonian, Vincent Ly, Michael Schreiber, Muriel Vinson, and Kate Nixon.

Location:

We are located in Williams Hall on the Virginia Tech campus and affiliated with the Department of Psychology at Virginia Tech.
