Child Assessment Clinic

The Child Assessment Clinic, located at the Child Study Center, specializes in comprehensive diagnostic evaluations for children and adolescents from 7 to 18 years of age. The focus of our diagnostic clinic is two-fold: neurodevelopmental disorders in children (such as autism, asperger’s disorder, learning disabilities, intellectual disability, and ADHD), as well as mood and anxiety disorders. However, we also conduct assessments for other problems in children including aggressive behavior, school problems, and other emotional problems.

Our evaluations are comprehensive and include behavioral observations, use of established diagnostic tools, and clinical interviews. As a research-based clinic, we use scientifically supported (evidence-based) measurements and we also use what we learn in the clinic for the pursuit of research in order to inform the field and improve our clinical assessment practices. Evaluations are conducted primarily by advanced doctoral students in VT’s clinical psychology concentration, under the direct supervision of two licensed clinical psychologists – Drs. Susan White and Thomas Ollendick.

We have a standard fee, but offer a sliding scale for families in financial need. For appointments or more information, please call (540) 231-8276.
