The Infant Perception Laboratory in the Department of Psychology is located on the beautiful campus of Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, Virginia. Our research is focused on how infants develop their attention to and understanding of auditory and visual events that allow them to learn about their caretakers, themselves, and the world around them. In particular, we examine how infants learn about communication and language during their first year. We welcome infants of all ages into our studies, from birth to 12 months of age. Dr. Robin Panneton (director of the Infant Perception Lab) has received a Canadian-U.S. Fulbright Research Chair Award for Fall, 2008. She will be living in Montreal during this time, and collaborating with affiliated faculty at the Centre for Research in Language, Mind, and Brain (CRLMB).
This Spring 2008, Michelle Woogen, Katie Hercik, Stephanie Budd, Ramya Avadhanam, Brian Lutgens and Lisa Koedding graduate from Virginia Tech - good luck to each of you in all the ventures to come!
We were fortunate to have Dr. Linda Polka from McGill University as a visitor in our lab in February, 2008. Linda was invited to Virginia Tech as a speaker in our Developmental Science Initiative series.
