Martha Ann Bell Named Fellow by APS


Dr. Martha Ann Bell has been elected to Fellow status by the Association for Psychological Science.

Clinical Students Receive Access and Inclusion Awards


Tyler Hassenfeldt, Nicole Kreiser, and Brenna Maddox, clinical psychology graduate students, will receive 2012 Excellence in Access and Inclusion Awards sponsored by the Services for Students with Disabilities Office and the Office for Diversity and Inclusion at an awards ceremony on April 3. Recipients of the award are recognized for going the extra mile to make life on campus more accessible and equitable for students, employees, and the community.

Jungmeen Kim-Spoon Receives ISCE Summer Scholar award


The Institute for Society, Culture and Environment (ISCE) has awarded Dr. Jungmeen Kim-Spoon and a team of researchers a grant to support proposal development related to understanding risky decision-making and substance use in adolescence as part of the ISCE Summer Scholars Program.

Martha Ann Bell Named ISCE Senior Fellow for Fall 2012


The Institute for Society, Culture and Environment (ISCE) has selected Dr. Martha Ann Bell as an ISCE Senior Fellow for Fall 2012. As a recipient of the fellowship award she will be released from teaching responsibilities for the Fall semester and receive funds to support travel and student wages to assist with research development activities.   

Julie Dunsmore Receives ISCE Summer Scholars Grant


As part of the Institute for Society Culture, and Environment Summer Scholars Program, Dr. Julie Dunsmore and a team of researchers have been awarded a grant to support proposal development related to research on the influence of parent and child beliefs on the effectiveness of weight loss management programs for children and adolescents.

Deater-Deckard and colleagues receive XCaliber award


Dr. Kirby Deater-Deckard and colleagues in the College of Science and School of Education at Virginia Tech received the 2012 XCaliber Certificate of Excellence from the VT Center for Innovation in Learning, for their NSF-funded GAMES project to develop digital games to enhance math learning in middle school students.

Kristy Benoit selected as COS 2012 Outstanding Doctoral Student


The College of Science has selected clinical psychology graduate student, Kristy Benoit, as its 2012 Outstanding Doctoral Student. She will receive the award at the Graduate Awards Banquet on March 29, 2012.

Dr. Lee Cooper selected to receive the 2011-12 Diggs Teaching Scholar Award


Dr. Lee Cooper has been selected to receive the 2011-12 Diggs Teaching Scholar Award. His proposed teaching enhancement project for next year involves the creation of a constructive platform for disciplined reflection and inquiry for a group of instructors with the goal of improving their teaching. 

Dr. Julie Dunsmore named a Multicultural Fellow


Dr. Julie Dunsmore has been named a Multicultural Fellow. Multicultural Fellows are a select group of Virginia Tech faculty and staff members who promote the university's diversity efforts.

Dr. Warren Bickel wins the Med Associates Brady Schuster Award.


Dr. Warren Bickel has won the Med Associates Brady Schuster Award from Division 28 of the American Psychological Association (Psychopharmacology and Substance abuse).
