Instructor and graduate students receive 2011 Excellence in Access and Inclusion Awards.


Dr. Kelly Harrison, part-time instructor in psychology, and clinical graduate students Michelle Patriquin and Cara Pugliese, received 2011 Excellence in Access and Inclusion Awards from the Services for Students with Disabilities Office.

Ryan Smith received the College of Science Graduate Service Excellence Merit Certificate.

Kristy Benoit Receives Dissertation Award


Kristy Benoit, a graduate student in clinical psychology working with Dr. Tom Ollendick, received a Society for a Science of Clinical Psychology (SSCP) Dissertation Award for her study entitled “Interpretation Bias in Anxious Mothers and Their Children: Can Interpretation Modification Affect the Intergenerational Transmission of Anxiety?"

Dr. Martha Ann Bell invited to participate in a Vision Workshop on cognition.


Dr. Martha Ann Bell has been invited by the Director of the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) to participate in a Vision Workshop on cognition. She will work with a mix of other researchers, clinicians, public advocates, and policy experts to help set the agenda for future research funded by NICHD.

Morgan Hubble is recipient of the 2010 Virginia Tech Outstanding Performance in Labs Award.


Morgan Hubble, lab manager of the CAP Lab, is recipient of the 2010 Virginia Tech Outstanding Performance in Labs Award. The university-wide award was presented to Morgan at the awards ceremony on Oct 24 by the office of Organizational and Professional Development. Morgan received a certificate and a cash prize.

Anjolii Diaz will represent Virginia Tech in Nobel Laureates competition.


Anjolii Diaz, grad student in the CAP Lab, will represent Virginia Tech in the competition to be one of 60 U.S. PhD students selected to meet with Nobel Laureates in Lindau, Germany, in June 2011.

Dr. Thomas Ollendick appointed to the Clinical Treatment Guidelines Advisory Steering Committee of the APA


Dr. Thomas Ollendick has been appointed to the Clinical Treatment Guidelines Advisory Steering Committee of the American Psychological Association.

Dr. Martha Ann Bell named 2010 Outstanding Alumni Scholar


Dr. Martha Ann Bell has been named 2010 Outstanding Alumni Scholar by the College of Education at the University of Maryland. She will attend the awards ceremony and dinner on Nov 18 in College Park.

Krystal M. Lewis awarded SREB Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship Award


Krystal M. Lewis, graduate student in clinical psychology, was awarded the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship Award for her study, Feasibility and Effectiveness of an Anxiety Prevention Intervention for Young Children: The Fun Friends Program.

Jordan Booker awarded SREB Doctoral Award


Jordan Booker has been awarded an SREB Doctoral Award to fund his studies in the Developmental and Biological Psychology program for 2011-2014.
