VT Community Partners

Virginia Tech Community Partners (VT-CP) is located in Suite 122 of the Roanoke Higher Education Center.

To support the university's missions of instruction, research, and outreach, Virginia Tech has established a cross-disciplinary program, the Developmental Science Initiative, to involve a diverse group of researchers and educators who share the goal of understanding and promoting the health and well-being of children and their family members. One of the most effective ways for a research university such as ours to address this goal is to disseminate new knowledge based on high quality research findings to the individuals and groups - schools, hospitals, clubs, and non-profit organizations -- that can put this research to work. To this end, we have initiated VT-CP. We strive to:

• Provide no-cost or low-cost research support to professionals and agencies in the community working with infants, children, adolescents, adults, and seniors
• Conduct outreach activities with community partners to enhance the translation of new knowledge into practice in ways that positively impact the population
• Build new knowledge regarding healthy human development by conducting basic research and sharing our findings with individuals, families, professionals and agencies in the community
