AV Recording at the PSC/VTAC

Background

The AV recording system at the CSC/CSS has been upgraded from a DVD recording system to a computer based recording system.  The new system will use computers to record video.

This document will help you get started with the new system.  If you have any questions, please read this document thoroughly before contacting one of the AV contacts at the end of this document.

Directions for use of the New PSC Recording System

Note : screen shots of the process are available on the next page.

  1.  Log into the computer using your normal username and password.
  2. To record, click “Elgato Video Capture”.
    1. Label Your Video: (e.g., HG_0476)
    2. Choose the approximate length. It will stop recording after this length (e.g., 60 min, 90 min)
    3. Click continue once you see the video feed (should be automatic).
    4. It will then test sound. Click continue again once you hear the sound.
    5. Then click “Start recording”. (Red button). i. Note: the “mute sound” is on so that we do not hear the sound in the recording room.
  3. When the recording is done, you have the option to trim the recording. (For instance if your client came late, or you left it running).
  4. Now click on the public folder. (Look at screen shots for reference).
    1. VIDEOS MUST BE REMOVED FROM THE PUBLIC FOLDER.
    2. Move your files from public folder to “kibo”, our internal server. Click VideoOnlyShare.
    3. Then make yourself a personal folder and paste your video in!

*Note about transferring videos to review or bring to practicum:

  1. PSC flash drives will be located in each recording area. If you need to put your recording on your personal laptop, use a PSC flash drive to move it to your laptop. THEN DELETE IT FROM THE PSC FLASHDRIVE.
  2. DO NOT LEAVE ANY RECORDINGS ON A PERSONAL FLASHDRIVE. Recordings should be saved to your computer , and not on any devices that could be easily lost.
